U6-U8: Player Introduction and Development Stages.

Welcome to the "Introduction to Soccer" phase, where we introduce, coach, and assess four key areas of focus for our young players:

- Technical Skills

- Motor Skills

- Social Skills

- Cognitive Development

This marks the players' first foray into the world of soccer, making it crucial to cultivate an enjoyable and safe atmosphere for them to learn, develop, and experience the range of emotions that accompany sports while blossoming as individuals. Providing proper instruction and training at this early stage simplifies the sport and allows the player to evolve naturally with their newfound skills. All Head Coaches hold National Licenses and adhere to a structured training program. The focus at this age group revolves around a 4v4 play format.

U9-U12: Enhanced Development and Preparation for S-Academy.

Building upon the foundational aspects of the program, there is a greater emphasis on technical skills such as ball control, passing, and shooting. A deeper focus is placed on agility and balance. Cognitive development evolves to a more advanced level, particularly in decision-making within small spaces. The emphasis on teamwork, communication, and self-discipline is further enhanced.

Since 2016, US Soccer has implemented a growth strategy for small-sided games. For U9-U10, the format transitions to 7v7, while U11-U12 shifts to 9v9. Players aged U13 and older advance to a full 11v11 team structure.

However, Olympus FC disagrees with this approach and opts to continue using the 7v7 format from U6 through U12. The rationale behind this decision is that young players require ample time to refine their technical skills. Smaller-sided fields provide more opportunities for touches and promote better decision-making. This philosophy is supported by the federations of England, Spain, and Italy, aligning with the standards upheld by the top academies worldwide.
